Johnson & Family Foundation’s fight for Women’s Empowerment and Incarcerated Youth continues

Published

on

Mr.Johnson, a household name for the community here in Baltimore when it comes to mental health, support, and direction.  Throughout his career as a community activist for the youth, Brandon Johnson sought out a deeper issue in the community. He noticed that it was not only the children who have been suffering yet its been the parents as well. Pain, disappointment, and setbacks happen every day in urban communities when raising a family and creating a personal life. Some believe there is not much of an answer to saving lives. But not Brandon Johnson.

Mr. Johnson, founder of Johnson and Family Foundation makes it clear that the people that enter his life became his top priority. From raising a family of his own. Brandon is the father of 12, yet his work doesn’t stop there.  He also enrolled over 1000 individuals with a huge waiting list in his program that focuses on mental health, personal development, and career opportunities.  A program that has been successful for up to three years. Johnson and Family Foundation services youth ages 6-21 who are currently incarcerated or have been in the past.

The goal is to connect youth with a mentor who will assist with developing personal success plans and identifying participants’ support systems and ways to navigate toward achieving personal goals. Their services include a direct focus on health, education, social well-being, employability, and professional and leadership development. Some may see Mr. Johnson as a role model as he sees himself as an example. His life was not as easy. Being a single child, growing up in the challenging streets of North East Baltimore. Brandon sought out the street life that led to a very humbling path. he experienced jail time, setbacks, and suddenly losing his son due to gun violence. The tragic lifestyle spoke to him deeply. He knew that it was time for a change.

Fast forward 5 years later, he not only helps the youth but is now impacting the lives of adult women. Those who have families, relationships, and careers. Mr. Johnson realized that sometimes children have troubles that stem from their parents and if he were able to guide the mothers then the opportunities for the children to have a successful life will improve as well. The audience that Mr. Johnson is women is in need of therapy, massage therapy, aroma therapy, mediation therapy, and self-care. With the help of these therapeutic exercises, the chances of creating a healthier home environment can increase at a high rate.

The PRP Program have helped me mentally. I was bias as to joining at first because it is hard to open up to people but I’m glad I did. I got to meet some amazing woman that will hopefully one day turn into family. Sisterhood is very important especially for woman with children. We all need a mental break from life sometimes and Brandon has made that happen. His program is very good not for just children but adults to. My son started in the program and still is currently active. I can’t wait to see how successful Brandon program will be.

It’s not how we fall it’s how we get back up again, I’m going help you – Brandon Johnson
