Baltimore Ravens trade for Pro Bowl cornerback Marcus Peters

The Baltimore Ravens have made the first of what could be many big trades this NFL season trading linebacker Kenny Young and an undisclosed draft pick for cornerback Marcus Peters.

Marcus Peters is currently in his fifth season in the NFL. He spent his first two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and had been with the Los Angeles Rams since last season.

In his career, Peters has 24 interceptions including the NFL with eight interceptions in his rookie season and has four career pick sixes. Since entering the NFL, Peters is the only defender to have three or more seasons with five interceptions.

Marcus Peters has made the postseason each season he has been in the NFL including appearing in his first Super Bowl last season with the Rams.

While the Ravens pass defense rank in the top half of the NFL in passing touchdowns, they have struggled from keeping opposing offenses from moving the ball down field through the air ranking 24th in the NFL in passing yards allowed.

The Ravens secondary have been ravaged with injuries as four cornerbacks for the are currently listed on the injury report including two on injury reserve. The addition could be the first step to the Ravens fixing the woes of their pass defense.
