Designed Destiny Dance Team Host Their First Extravaganza Showcase

As we wrap up 2021, one thing we can say is that tons of talents and creatives has been surfacing from the DMV. One of them being a new dance team that has been hitting the scene lately, Designed Destiny. Designed Destiny is a dance team based in Baltimore, MD with dance ranging from the ages of 6 to 17. powered by Redesigning Minds.

Designed Destiny is a fairly new program that was founded earlier this year by Destiny Harris. Harris created this dance team so she can provide an outlet for young girls growing up in Charm City. The sole purpose of Designed Destiny Dance Team to equip young girls to fearlessly face everyday challenges in life and to rise above with resilience.

“Young women will understand they have the power to narrate their lives despite past circumstances in order to design their own destiny” said Harris.

The dance team held their first showcase on December 4th, 2021, which was a complete success. It was a sold out event and the audience arrived as early as an hour before the show even begun. The showcase was filled with so many laughing moments, inspiring words, and pure entertainment. For most of the girls on the team, this was their first time dancing and best believe they were completely prepared for this moment. They fought through adversity, nerves, and self-doubt but they prevailed through it all which left everyone satisfied.

We had spoke with the team board and learned that in the process of preparing for the showcase. The team prepared for the show by having meditation sessions, additional volunteer coaches, team bonding sleepovers, along with other therapeutic exercises to help the girls cope with their responsibilities on top of their daily lives. That was a way to gain closer relationships with each team member and a happy work environment so the girls can put on their best performances.

We were told that Designed Destiny is now accepting more girls to join their team. They plan to grow their team and expect to have tryouts as early as December 2022. So we can expect to see a much bigger showcase and additional opportunities for the city of Baltimore.

This program is expected to change many young girls’ lives for the better. We are excited to see how great this program can become.
