FOBB REEP  x “Need A Hero” review.

Published

on

FOBB Reep is a rapper from Trinidad that has released a new single, “Need a  hero.”   Fobb Reep stated the message being portrayed to listeners is to “be the hero that’s needed, Stand up and fight for what you believe in.” I felt like we needed a hero, and we all should stand up and try to fill that void”. Fobb Reep’s inspiration came from a current event happening in regards to black lives matter protest. The lyrics and video depict the struggles and brutality of just being black in America in 2020. The video shows a montage of unfortunate killings of unarmed black men and women murdered by police. The song was released in the middle of a  movement to not only motivate the revolution but also not overshadowing the purpose of not letting these names die and only become a forgotten death.

The song starts with an array of black lives matter chants, police sirens, and a small interlude by the artist about making change. The song then proceeds to tell the message of how a hero is someone who is not the typical portrayal of superman in a cape. “ No cape but I reach, No scholar, but I teach.” A hero is defined in a multitude of ways, but a hero is inside of everyone.  Fobb Reep stated the message for the audience is to “be the hero that’s needed, Stand up and fight for what you believe in.” I felt like we needed a hero, and we all should stand up and try to fill that void”. Simple enough: hero cant is defined. a Fobb Reep’s inspiration came from what is going on at this time, Tim, the struggles of just being black in America.   The song’s message is also to love one another and stop putting so much fuel to fire with the hate the world gives. wake up and see that this problem is bigger then what the eyes can see but it’s up to every individual to make the change: be the hero
