KEM Brings “ALKEMY” Jazz Tribute to Al Jarreau to Blue Note New York and Los Angeles

Published

on

Internationally renowned R&B singer, songwriter, and producer KEM continues a powerful new chapter with ALKEMY: A Soulful Jazz Homage to Al Jarreau, an intimate live experience that blends jazz tradition with modern soul. The special performance series will take place at the iconic Blue Note Jazz Club, with shows in New York City from March 5–8and Los Angeles from March 12–15.

In addition to the Blue Note dates, KEM will bring the celebration closer to home with back-to-back Valentine’s Day weekend performances at The Theater at MGM National Harbor. The National Harbor shows add a romantic and soulful centerpiece to the ALKEMY era, offering fans a chance to experience KEM’s music in a setting designed for intimacy, elegance, and connection.

A Soulful Tribute Rooted in Legacy

ALKEMY goes beyond a traditional concert format. The project serves as a musical dialogue between generations of jazz and soul. KEM draws inspiration from the late Al Jarreau, whose fearless artistry and vocal brilliance shaped his own creative journey. Through smooth vocals, improvisation, and refined arrangements, KEM honors that legacy while making it distinctly his own.

“This is my way of honoring Al, one of my most significant musical inspirations,” said KEM.

He described Jarreau’s voice and love for jazz as unmatched. The project reflects an album the two once discussed but never had the chance to make together. As a result, ALKEMY stands as both tribute and continuation.

Live Performances and What Fans Can Expect

During these live performances, KEM will also preview music from his upcoming recorded project, ALKEMY, produced by GRAMMY Award–winning artist Robert Glasper. The album reimagines selections from KEM’s celebrated catalog while weaving in songs inspired by Al Jarreau’s timeless sound.

Glasper described the collaboration as natural and long overdue. He expressed excitement about merging creative visions to produce something meaningful and unique. Together, the partnership bridges classic jazz influence with contemporary soul.

Tickets for ALKEMY: A Soulful Jazz Homage to Al Jarreau are available through Ticketmaster and BlueNoteJazz.com. With stops in New York, Los Angeles, and National Harbor, the series promises an unforgettable blend of romance, legacy, and live musicianship.
