One Of Four Inmates Who Escaped Chesterfield County Detention Center Captured In Columbia
Emanuel Robson Planco, one of four inmates who escaped from the Chesterfield County Detention Center, was arrested Thursday morning in Columbia, SC, after deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person breaking into cars on Willow Oak Drive. Planco, Anton Conway Bennett, Kyonne Marquise McLeod, and De’Shawn Malik Fox, had been on the run since their escape.
When deputies arrived, a K9 specialist witnessed Planco breaking into a Kia. Planco attempted to flee, leading deputies on a chase that ended near Lone Drive off Farrow Road after stop sticks were deployed to disable the vehicle. Planco fled on foot but was quickly found hiding in a wooded area by K9 Kiro.
Authorities revealed that Planco had tried to break into a home on Willow Oak Drive before the car thefts. The homeowner saw him on video and fired a warning shot into the air, scaring Planco away. Planco is also accused of breaking into three other vehicles and stealing a PlayStation 4, credit cards, and IDs.
Planco now faces multiple charges, including failure to stop for blue lights, reckless driving, possession of a stolen vehicle, grand robbery, burglary, and financial transaction card theft. He was treated for dog bites at the hospital before being transferred to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Chesterfield County officials are expected to file additional charges related to his escape.

News like this is always alarming! It raises questions about the current security protocols at the Chesterfield County Detention Center. Are there any changes underway to improve security measures and prevent something similar from happening again? These kinds of incidents can understandably make residents feel uneasy. Hopefully, the County will work on making safety a priority, so we don’t have repeated escapes and keep everyone in Chesterfield feeling secure. It’d be great if the authorities would provide more details on any new policies or upgrades being implemented.
