It was recently learned that the entire food court in the St. Charles Mall in Waldorf is experiencing a roach and rodent infestation.

According to Fox5 News, several patrons and employees of the mall have spotted rodents on counters and near registers at restaurants including Asian Chao Oriental Eatery and Popeyes.

“Once you see roaches in one place, in a place like this, they are in the whole place,” Donte Powell, a regular customer of the mall, told Fox5 News.

According to a health inspection report from a Jan. 15, 2019 inspection of the Sbarro in the food court obtained by Fox5 News, an inspector found evidence of a “rodent infestation” inside of the restaurant.

The report also went on to state that the inspector “followed [a] trail of rodent excrement and noticed large hole below pizza oven that may be point of entry” as well as “mouse droppings are now also present in counter bottom along with roaches.”

The report stated that the situation needed to be resolved by the end of January in order for the store to remain open, but the uninvited guests appear to still be an issue.

The media have not been able to successfully contact Simon, the owners of the mall, for comment on the issue.
