The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating two separate fatal shootings in Southeast Tuesday afternoon that occurred minutes apart.
According to an MPD release, the initial shooting occurred around 12:22 p.m. in the 2200 block of Savannah Street. Officers arrived and discovered a guy, 32-year-old Clayton Marshall, who seemed to have been shot many times. Marshall was rushed to a neighboring hospital for treatment, but he died as a result of his injuries.
The gunshot also injured a second man. He was being treated for his injuries at another hospital. At this point, there is no word on his condition.
The second gunfire was reported 16 minutes later in the 2800 block of Gainsville Street, less than two miles distant.
When cops got to the second shooting, they discovered a guy, 29-year-old William Venison, with apparent gunshot wounds. First responders attempted to assist Venison and transported him to a local hospital for treatment, but he died as a result of his injuries.
Police have not released any information on the suspects in any of the shootings.
The shootings have not been linked by authorities.
