Women of Prince George’s, the premier resource for entrepreneurs and businesswomen in Greater Prince George’s County, is hosting their 12th Annual Women’s Conference. This year’s theme for the conference is Without Pressure There Are No Diamonds! The event is taking place on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Newton White Mansion in Mitchellville, MD. Attendees also have the option to attend the conference virtually.

The event will be hosted by Emmy award-winning meteorologist at ABC 7, Veronica Johnson. Women attending the conference will hear from a variety of women entrepreneurs, seasoned executives, and professionals across industries. Some of the topics being discussed are is how to successfully generate multiple streams of income, monetize your business ideas, serial entrepreneurism, lifestyle and hospitality, food, and beverage, prioritize your mental health, and more. 

Q: Can you tell us more about the Women of Prince George’s organization?

Crystal Pollard: Women of Prince George’s is the premier professional resource for established entrepreneurs and businesswomen in the Greater Prince George’s area. We provide an educational experience, access to exclusive networking across industries, inspiring case studies, and a series of events to support business growth.

Q: I see that the Women of Prince George’s tagline is “Connect. Grow. Learn.” Can you please elaborate on that and how your organization serves local businesswomen and entrepreneurs?

Stephanie Bolton James: We provide exclusive networking experiences for professionals in the DMV to connect with like-minded individuals and develop mutually-beneficial relationships that will lead to growth and continuous opportunities for learning.

Q: It’s so exciting that you’re finally able to return to your in-person format after the pandemic! What can attendees expect from the 12th Annual Women’s Conference – Without Pressure There Are No Diamonds?\

Stephanie Bolton James: Yes, we’re extremely excited! The environment and energy at our conferences are truly one-of-a-kind. Attendees can expect a full day of informative speakers focusing on subjects including creating multiple streams of income, entrepreneurship, designing a well-balanced life, and more! Professional women across industries, including education, government, health, and more will be present.

Attendees can expect to connect with experts that will provide the insight and mentorship to help them towards their goals. They will learn how to be intentional with what they want from their professional lives and receive a 1:1 professional experience that is only provided at our in-person conference.

Q: Maryland has an important election coming up, and your event is providing a great way for people to learn more about the candidates. Can you tell us more about the Meet the Candidates panel?

Crystal Pollard: As a community, especially a black community, it’s so important that we’re properly informed and prepared to participate in our local elections. The Gubernatorial Primary election is on July 19, 2022. We’re proud to host a political forum at this year’s conference, which features 10 candidates running for office in the state and county. Don’t miss this!

Q: Is the event just for women entrepreneurs, or can all professionals attend?

Stephanie Bolton James: Everyone is welcome! We’ve even seen husbands attending on behalf of their wives. If you’re interested in professional development opportunities either within your own business or where you’re employed, please attend!

Q: This is an all-day event. Will food be provided?

Stephanie Bolton James: Yes! In-person registration includes breakfast and lunch. We will be following COVID protocols and serving boxed lunches to avoid crowing in the dining area.
