The Ravens release wide receiver Miles Boykin & sign Huntley & three other exclusive rights free agents
The Baltimore Ravens confirmed Monday that wide receiver Miles Boykin has been released, freeing up an estimated $2.5 million in salary-cap space.
The former third-round pick out of Notre Dame caught 33 catches for 470 yards and seven touchdowns in three years with the Ravens. Boykin was a significant downfield blocker in the team’s run-heavy offensive scheme at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, but hamstring and finger problems restricted his playing time in 2021.
Boykin barely saw the field in 6 percent of the offense’s snaps in eight games after starting the season on injured reserve, according to Pro Football Reference, and he was only targeted once, for a six-yard completion. He got more time as a special teamer while he was active, appearing in 63 percent of the unit’s snaps.
Boykin’s four-year rookie contract was worth slightly more than $3.5 million, according to Spotrac.
Boykin was drafted with the team’s top wideout, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, in the 2019 NFL Draft. Since then, the Ravens have recruited four receivers, including Devin Duvernay and James Proche in 2020 and Rashod Bateman and Tylan Wallace in 2021.
The Ravens also announced Monday that they have signed exclusive rights free agents quarterback Tyler Huntley, center Trystan Colon, linebacker Kristian Welch, and long snapper Nick Moore to contracts.
