Learn About The Event Series That’s Reviving The R&B Scene in the DMV: “The Set”

Published

on

For the past year, I can genuinely say I have been reconnecting with R&B music. Since I have attended events and gatherings, Pre-COVID and “Post-COVID”, I seem to notice the same type of music being played over and over, particularly “Trap or Drill” compared to REAL RAP and R&B. That changed once DJs and Influencers caught on and realized that R&B and Afrobeats is taking over the music scene.

As party-goers began to diversify their options, King Iven saw an important need with bringing his community together through something that he’s very passionate about and that is music. Since 2018, The Set has been providing a social experience for R&B lovers, working with many DJs from the area. During the course of 4 years, The Set had at least over 12,000 attendees for 22 of their events in D.C. and now they are expanding their marketing to Dallas, Houston, and Chicago,

I had the chance to talk with King Iven to learn more about his love for music and how The Set had grown over the past 4 years. For updates on upcoming events, follow The Set on Instagram @thesetrnb. Also, take a look at some of the pictures from their event in June.
