Metro conducts an emergency drill in preparation for the opening of the Silver Line extension
Hundreds of fire and emergency personnel took part in a full-scale emergency simulation at Metro’s new Ashburn Station on the Silver Line expansion on Wednesday.
Local governments from across the D.C. region took part in the practice ahead of the Silver Line extension’s planned launch later this fall.
Metro recreated a real-life incident with a train stalled outside Ashburn Station during the drill.
Emergency response, communication, command structure, station familiarization, track and railcar access, and evacuation protocols were all priorities for first responders.
