Coach Kay Thompson Is Helping Thousands Build Wealth Through Digital Entrepreneurship
Coach Kay Thompson’s journey to becoming one of Washington, D.C.‘s inaugural 50 Women to KNOW honorees wasn’t built on overnight success—it was built through resilience, reinvention, and a commitment to helping others create financial freedom.
Recognized during a gala celebrating some of the District’s most influential female leaders, Thompson has become one of the region’s leading voices in digital entrepreneurship. Today, she is a seven-figure business coach and digital revenue strategist, but her path began with personal setbacks that included layoffs, eviction, and financial hardship.
Rather than allowing those challenges to define her, Thompson leaned into the growing digital economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. What started as a way to rebuild her own financial future has grown into a business that has helped more than 11,000 students—primarily Black women—learn how to create additional income through digital products and online businesses.

A Richmond, Virginia native with professional experience in banking, beauty, and media, Thompson has built her brand around one mission: helping people turn their knowledge into profitable businesses. Her coaching focuses on creating sustainable income streams through digital products, branding, marketing, and business strategy, with many of her students reporting five- and six-figure revenue milestones.
As artificial intelligence continues reshaping entrepreneurship, Thompson recently introduced Coach KayGPT, an AI-powered business coaching platform designed to give entrepreneurs around-the-clock guidance on creating, launching, and scaling digital products. The platform reflects her belief that technology should make expert business education more accessible to aspiring entrepreneurs.

Beyond business success, Thompson is passionate about closing the wealth gap by equipping individuals with practical tools, financial knowledge, and ownership opportunities that can create long-term economic stability for families and future generations.
Her selection as a member of the inaugural 50 Women to KNOW in Washington, D.C. highlights not only her entrepreneurial achievements but also her growing influence as a leader dedicated to empowering others through education, innovation, and economic opportunity.
