Derek Wolfe Opens Up About His Second Hip Surgery

Published

Derek Wolfe, who missed the entire 2021 season due to hip and back issues, disclosed in an Instagram video Monday that he had his second offseason hip surgery.

Wolfe, 32, did not play last season after injuring himself during a joint training camp session with the Carolina Panthers.

He was coming off an outstanding 2020 season in Baltimore, his first year following eight years with the Denver Broncos. Wolfe started all 16 games in 2020 and was an excellent run stopper, tying his career-high with 51 tackles, including six for loss.

Wolfe got a three-year contract deal in March 2021 but has yet to play.

During the offseason, the Ravens retooled their defensive line by signing defensive lineman Michael Pierce and drafting defensive tackle Travis Jones in the third round. In late May, the Ravens re-signed defensive end Brent Urban. They will join top returning linemen Calais Campbell, Justin Madubuike, and Broderick Washington, who all resigned.
