Montgomery County Public Schools to Raise Substitute Teacher Pay
Montgomery County Public Schools have agreed to raise the pay for substitute teachers. The pay increase comes in an attempt to get more teachers on board during the shortage they’re suffering.
Short-term substitutes who hold teaching certificates will get a 7.3% which increases their pay to $30.71 an hour. The short-term substitutes who don’t hold the state certification will earn $21.43 an hour for an increase of 5%. Long-term substitutes with the certificate will see an 8% increase in pay, while the ones who aren’t will receive a 6%.
All of this resulted because of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by Montgomery County Public Schools. The agreement stands until the end of the academic year.
