yungmanny - confused.jpgYungManny is on the rise in the DMV music scene, with his viral song “Moana,” which has reached over 4.6 million views via YouTube. A year later, he continues to make his mark within the industry by releasing his new album, Confused, including features from Shabazz PBG and Xanman. Apart from his project, YungManny was featured on IDK’s new single “495” alongside Big Flock, Big Jam, Rico Nasty, and Weensey. That collaboration is significant because the single included an entire lineup of DMV artists, a huge accomplishment for him, especially this early on in his career.

YungManny manages to create music by incorporating the DMV sound but still including his spin on it. Most of his songs include references from youth pop culture such as his most notable single, “Moana,” which is from the Pixar animated film. The most captivating part of that single was the music video; Manny used an electric drill versus a gun because he wishes not to influence gun violence. YungManny displays a sense of responsibility and self-awareness at a young age; he realizes that some of his supporters are young like him and can be easily impressionable.

The song consists of a sample and lyric references from the previous single. Towards the end of the song, he hints that there may be a Moana Part 3. The visual includes a rather comical storyline; he and his friends are riding through the streets of New York, and the local authorities pop on set, but this doesn’t stop Manny because the turn up must go on! As he returns to the house and is seen wearing a face mask and using sanitizers, once again spreading positive safety measures!

Manny also teamed up with fellow PG artist, Xanman, on the third track “Hop Out,” the two rappers go bar for bar. Followed by the next feature with Shabazz PBG, on the seventh track “380.” Overall this project displays the growth in YungManny’s bars, references, and punchlines. Manny also shows his versatility with tracks such as “Margiela,” which includes a feel-good and breezy beat or more meaningful and deep sound on tracks like “Blessing in Disguise.”

“His music has gotten considerably better too, as his flows are starting to come off a bit more effortless than before, and even on tracks that feature him showing off his ability to harmonize, he’s found a groove with contagiously smooth melodies.” – The FADER

YungManny is only seventeen-years-old and has managed to see success at an early age, from sold-out shows, millions of views, and music streams. Through his authenticity and consistency, he can display a level of talent that proves that the DMV is full of talent. We hope the young rapper continues to put his hometown on the map!

YungManny’s Confused album is available on all streaming platforms!
