From Playing Ball To Crafting Bars: Get To Know Maryland Artist APwoe

Age: 24

Hometown: Fort Washington, Maryland

How did you get started making music?

Honestly, it was kind of random. I started getting into music seriously a little after I graduated from college. My brother and a few of my close friends made music and it always sparked my interest but my focus was on sports at the time. I randomly started to write out my thoughts on paper (which was weird because I hated writing) they just so happened to flow together. So after a while of gathering some material I told my brother I want to get into music. So he gave me a crash course on how to legitimately record myself, told me to go create some shit and I went into the basement and started.

What was your childhood like?

My childhood was dope thanks to my parents. I grew up with two brothers and we fought all the time over all the games and tv but it was high-key fun as fuck. We all grew up playing sports my entire life. Other than that it was the normal cookout functions, Huggies, Lunchables, weak ass milk/ lunch combinations that every kid was crushing in school. but yeah It was pretty normal.

What type of kid was you in high school?

In high school, I was the chill guy playing multiple sports that didn’t talk much unless I really knew you. Everybody knew of me but didn’t know me that well because I never would say shit. I still got along with everybody though.

Do you have any other creative interests besides making music?

Yes, I am interested in creating artwork but the thing is I can’t draw. So maybe if I just throw some paint on spots of a canvas I’ll strike gold? Nah probably not. I’ve had an interest in being in movies, picking up acting it would be tight to see myself in a big movie. That’s the move lowkey maybe sometime in the future. Right now I’m focused on this music.

Artists, that inspire you?

I came off that OG mixtape era so a lot of these artists are poppin now that I listened to. I would say artists like Kanye West, J.Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, Logic, Wale, Lil Wayne, Nas, and Andre 3000, inspired me to create something different from the normal wave.

Tell me about your new tape “Never Sleep”?

“Never Sleep” is a seven song mixtape about not only me believing in myself but for others to do the same as well. Getting to where you want to be in life is a constant grind. That grind that we all have to get what we want by any means. Also Keeping that confidence in yourself even when things get tough because you know you’ve put your all into it. When people here this project I want them to feel like nothing can stop them and keep that confidence throughout their journey and to never lose sight of your dreams and goals. All in all, I just want to provide good music that people can enjoy and look back on later.

The mixtape has production from Dejuan Crooks, Dj Pez and KMB who are all dope ass producers, shout out to them. I had this project mixed by nimbusmixedit and it was mastered by MisterNeek. They all did a great job.

Two favorite songs on your tape?

I personally like every song on here but If I had to choose which songs to send someone to I would say “No Pressure, and “Dark Sh!t” but don’t SLEEP on the others they could easily be a favorite.
