LivengoodLivin Learns From DJ First Class

First

J: Four unique things about you?

DJ:

  • I taught myself how to DJ my freshmen year in college (Western Illinois University).
  • I’m a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
  • I’m apart of a record label Billionaire Minds Build Brands (BMBB).
  • My older brother is a copywriter for Apple (he works at the corporate office in California and I’m sure he could give some dope discounts on any Apple products).

J: Describe yourself with a lyric

DJ: “Most of the time, when it rain it start pouring — but how we grind, it make the weather change for us.” Nipsey Hussle

J: You’re a great music journalist! How you got into that?

DJ: Since a kid, I’ve always loved to stay up to date with new music. I’ve always been the one that everyone came to in order to get the latest music or find out the latest news in HipHop. So early last year (Jan 2017) I realized that it was a hidden talent of mine outside of DJing. So I took it and ran with it really.

J: Publications you write for?

DJ: RESPECT Magazine, Bluntiq, The Hype Magazine, iLLANOiZE.

J: Biggest artists you worked with?

DJ: Taylor Gang, Yo Gotti, Lil Durk, Ace Hood, Waka Flocka

J: Dream artists to interview?

DJ: Curren$y, Weezy, Nipsey Hussle, Jeezy

J: You’re also a well known DJ! How did you got into that?

DJ: Referring back to the first question, I taught myself how to DJ my freshmen year in college while in my dorm room. I started to DJ all of the frat parties on campus and built a buzz for myself by getting booked to do shows at other schools ans all. I then got on contract through WIU to be the campus DJ for all events and from there, I just took off.

J: Gigs you DJed?

DJ: I’ve DJ’d a ton of shows and music festivals. I also do weddings etc.

J: What inspired your DJ name?

DJ: I wanted my DJ name to stand out from everyone else’s and have some substance behind it. When you hear “First Class”, I want my name to be the first thing that pops up in your head —- not airlines.

J: Favorite music artists?

DJ: Weezy, Jeezy, T.I., Fab, J Cole, Nipsey, Currensy, Nas

J: Biggest media influences?

DJ: My biggest influence is DJ Drama & DJ Don Cannon.

J: What made you love media?

DJ: What made me love media is simple the engagements with millions of people worldwide — it’s a beautiful thing!

J: What made you love music?

DJ: What made me love music is how it’s therapeutic and inspiring. When artists are able to paint pictures with their words over some dope production, that’s what makes me appreciate it more and more. Music in timeless and essential.

J: Advice you would give to a media rookie?

DJ: NETWORKING, NETWORKING, NETWORKING, and oh yea ——– NETWORKING!!!!

J: Long term media goals?

DJ: Own my own website where indie artists can shine at no cost.

J: Any shout outs?

DJ: S/O to God, my family and friends, my label and everybody that’s been rocking with me since Day 1

J: Finally, Spell your name out with a word

DJ: Perseverance.

J: All Social Medias!
