The Washington Commanders released three-time Pro Bowler strong safety, Landon Collins. According to CBS Sports Insider Josina Anderson, the decision was made over a contract dispute.

Collins originally signed a six-year, $84 million deal with the Commanders back in 2019. Collins elaborated on the pay cut:

“They asked me to take a pay cut. The first one was fine. Then they asked me to take another one. The money changed after they signed Carson Wentz. I’ll just take my chances in free agency.” – Landon Collins

His release saves Washington $6.6 million dollars against the cap, but they still will owe him $9.6 million dollars in dead money.
