A baby was taken to the hospital after being shot in Waldorf
After being shot in the hand at an apartment in Waldorf, Maryland, a newborn is being treated at a hospital.
According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred at about 12:05 a.m. Thursday when a guy approached the front door of an apartment asking for someone.
A mother holding her 8-month-old infant son answered the door of their apartment in the 3000 block of Gallery Place, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Diane Richardson.
That’s when the man pulled out a gun and shot the infant in the hand. Nobody else was hurt. According to Richardson, the infant is “stable” and not in danger of dying.
She stated that the suspect may have known someone at the flat and that the shooting was most likely the result of an earlier altercation. Officers are continuing to interview witnesses, and Richardson has requested anyone with information to call the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
