Officer shot in Laurel while serving a warrant for attempted murder; suspect in custody
A Laurel Police officer was shot in the line of duty while serving an arrest and search warrant in an attempted murder investigation on Wednesday.
Officers responded just after 6 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of Bryan Court.
When the Laurel Police Emergency Response Team arrived, the suspect opened fire from inside the house.
According to a spokeswoman, a cop was injured by gunfire and is being treated at a local hospital. The suspect has been apprehended.
There is no immediate threat to the community, but residents should expect police presence in the area for the next few hours.
