A child has been charged following a massive playground fire in Montgomery County
Authorities say a child faces arson charges after a large fire damaged a playground in Poolesville, Maryland.
The Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service reported a playground fire in the 19700 block of Fisher Avenue at 5:35 p.m. Sunday. Tall, orange flames and a massive cloud of dark smoke can be seen in photos.

According to the fire department, a minor was apprehended, charged, and released into the custody of their parents. A paper bag and sandwich container were purportedly set ablaze beneath playground equipment. According to the department, this ignited the rubber mulch. The fire caused an estimated $75,000 in damage.
The age of the child was not immediately disclosed.
