A man in Montgomery County was detained after discharging a gun during a neighborhood conflict

After arguing with a neighbor, a man from Maryland shot a gun into the air and is now being charged.

Lewis Stokes, 41, of Silver Spring, was detained by Montgomery County police on an allegation of reckless endangerment.

According to police, on August 31, a neighbor and her friends and family visited another neighbor’s home in the 12600 block of Farnell Drive in Silver Spring, close to Wheaton High School, to talk about an altercation involving the two neighbors’ children that had occurred earlier.

According to a Montgomery County police press release, Stokes then came out of the house and discharged a gun into the air while pointing it at the onlookers.

After responding to the scene and speaking with witnesses, police ordered everyone inside the residence to leave. Stokes was detained when witnesses recognized him as the gunfire’s perpetrator. A shell casing was discovered by the police in the house’s front yard.

According to authorities, a search warrant turned discovered a gun, along with illegal drugs and paraphernalia.

Without a bond, he is being detained.
