Recovery operations continue as dive teams diligently search for four construction workers presumed dead after the tragic collapse of the Baltimore Key Bridge on Tuesday morning.

In a solemn update just before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Maryland State Police Colonel Roland L. Butler, Jr. announced the discovery of two victims. Their identities were confirmed as 35-year-old Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes from Baltimore and 26-year-old Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera from Dundalk. Their bodies were found within a submerged red pickup truck, resting approximately 25 feet deep in the Patapsco River.

During the news conference, Col. Butler extended condolences to the families, with Maryland Gov. Wes Moore addressing them in Spanish, conveying, “Estamos contigo, ahora y siempre” (“We are with you, now and always”).

Despite exhaustive search efforts, authorities have determined that the remaining vehicles with victims are likely encased in superstructures and concrete from the collapsed bridge based on sonar scans. Divers will resume their search for remains once the waters are clear of debris.

Jesus Campos, who has personal connections with members of the crew, shared insights on Tuesday, revealing that they were on a break and some were seated in their trucks on the bridge when the tragedy struck, highlighting the sudden and unforeseeable nature of the collapse.
