Coppin State University Welcomes Its Largest Freshmen Class In 25 Years

Coppin State University’s campus is vibrant and bustling as the fall semester rolls in. Eagle Nation welcomed over 1,000 new undergraduate students this fall, marking the largest incoming class in over a quarter-century. This dynamic class reflects Baltimore’s high-spirited energy and embodies Coppin’s enduring commitment to scholarship, and community impact. Students are arriving at Baltimore’s hometown university not only from across the city, but also from as far as Arizona, Oklahoma, Los Angeles, Nevada, and international destinations, bringing multicultural perspectives and global ambition to The Nest.

“Coppin is where Baltimore’s grit meets global ambition. This class chose Coppin for rigorous academics, hands-on experiences, and a community that champions their success,” said Jinawa McNeil, Director of Admissions. “They are not just the largest class in years—they are among the boldest, traveling from across the country and around the world to join us. They bring energy, vision, and Baltimore pride, and Coppin is ready to help them soar.”

For 125 years, Coppin has stood on its promise to prepare students through a quality education to lead, serve, and transform communities. “This incoming class is a powerful affirmation of that promise,” said Dr. Anthony L. Jenkins, President of Coppin State University. “Coppin has always been a place where talent meets opportunity. More students are selecting Coppin as their university of choice because we are leader in urban higher education, and regardless of where one is from, this place feels like home.”

The new cohort “Eagle Domination” was officially welcomed to The Nest during Coppin State’s 2025 Convocation on Thursday, September 4. With another record-breaking entering class, and an increase in male enrollment, Coppin continues to strengthen its role as a hub of innovation, leadership, and transformation, preparing the next generation of thought-leaders impacting Baltimore, our nation, and beyond.

Prospective students, families, alumni, and community partners are invited to experience the vibrant spirit of Coppin State University firsthand.
