Diara McDougal Named A International Women’s History Leader in Behavioral Health In The DMV
Diara McDougal, a Maryland native and 28-year-old Licensed and Board Certified Behavior Analyst, is continuing to build a reputation as both a dedicated professional and a nominee recognized for her impact in the field of behavioral health.
Raised and educated in Prince George’s County, Maryland, McDougal completed her early schooling locally, attending from kindergarten through her senior year of high school. Alongside her academic foundation, she cultivated a strong passion for dance, performing in notable productions such as The Wiz at MGM and appearances at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C.
McDougal went on to attend the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Services. While many graduates of the program pursue careers in social work or case management, her path took a more specialized direction. She began working directly with children on the autism spectrum as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), providing one-on-one therapy that would ultimately shape her professional calling.
After gaining early hands-on experience, McDougal committed fully to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. She enrolled in the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where she pursued her Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. During her graduate studies, she completed over 2,000 hours of supervised fieldwork, further refining her expertise and deepening her commitment to the profession. Upon completion, she earned her credential as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Throughout her career, McDougal has served families and students across Maryland in a variety of settings, including outpatient centers, home-based environments, and Washington, D.C. public charter schools. Her work has consistently focused on providing meaningful support to individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.
Recently, she relocated to Houston, Texas, marking a new chapter in her professional journey as she continues to expand her reach and impact. Recognized by colleagues and peers as a role model, McDougal has become known for inspiring others to pursue careers centered on service and care.
With a foundation rooted in patience, dedication, and compassion, Diara McDougal continues to distinguish herself not only through her work, but also as a nominee by us TheDMVDaily whose influence reflects a growing legacy in behavioral health.
