Man Arrested for Attempted Arson at Sheetz Gas Station In Fredericksburg
Fredericksburg Police arrested David Rodriguez, 40, of Manassas, for attempting to set fire to a Sheetz gas station early on October 11. The Sheetz manager called 911 after noticing a man acting erratically in the parking lot.
Police allege Rodriguez set items on fire, including a candy bar next to the manager’s car. When Officers Taylor and Berry arrived, they initially couldn’t find him. However, while speaking to a witness, they spotted a man fitting his description walking toward the gas station.
When the officers called out to him, Rodriguez fled toward the gas pumps, holding a lighter and trying to grab a fuel nozzle. Officers quickly intervened and restrained his arms before he could ignite the nozzle. He resisted arrest and attempted to escape but was ultimately detained.
Rodriguez now faces charges of arson, two counts of vandalism, trespassing, shoplifting, property damage, and obstruction of justice.
