Police in Washington, D.C. are on the hunt for a man who they say sexually assaulted a sleeping Georgetown University student early Sunday morning.

According to authorities, the man broke into a property in the 3500 block of O Street, Northwest, at 4:30 a.m., and approached the sleeping student once inside.

The victim was awakened by the suspect trying unwelcome sexual contact. The man then fled the scene with the victim’s property.

The suspect is described as a 20-35-year-old white male, about 5-feet-8 in height, wearing a red, white, and blue beanie with a pom-pom-like ball on top.

Members of the Georgetown University community are also encouraged to report any suspicious behavior to GUPD (202-687-4343) or MPD. Anyone with information about this event is asked not to intervene and instead to phone the police at (202) 727-9099.
