Michele Kang Makes History Becoming The First Minority Woman To Own Majority Ownership in An NWSL Team
The Washington Spirit, the defending National Women’s Soccer League champion, made history by announcing that Michele Kang has acquired a majority interest in the team.
Kang is the first minority woman to own majority ownership in an NWSL team.
The NWSL had already approved Kang’s acquisition of a controlling share from Steve Baldwin in January, on the condition that additional investors back Kang.
Among the noteworthy personalities in the Spirit ownership group is former Senate majority leader Tom Daschle, Chelsea Clinton, Jenna Bush Hager, and Alex Ovechkin.
