Recognizing Women in Music This Women’s History Month: Briizy Is On the Rise

Published

on

Born and raised in the DMV, Briizy is not new to music. It has shaped every part of her journey. As an artist, DJ, audio engineer, and producer, she has built her path by staying close to the sound and the culture that influenced her from the start.

She first stepped behind the DJ booth in 2019 while attending the University of Miami. There, she began performing open-format sets and quickly built a reputation for reading the room and creating high-energy experiences. Her sets were not just about playing music. They were about movement, timing, and understanding what the crowd needed in the moment.

Over time, her sound became more defined. While she started out open format, she has since found her niche within the urban music scene, with a primary focus on urban and trap, while also incorporating hip-hop, rap, and elements of R&B into both her DJ sets and her own music. That shift allowed her to move with more intention and build a sound that feels true to her.

After leaving Miami, Briizy returned to the DMV with a deeper focus. She leaned into the creative and technical side of music, studying audio production and continuing her education in an Audio Engineering for the Music Industry program. At the same time, she began working out of local studios, where she writes, records, produces, and collaborates with other artists.

Her music reflects both her personal experiences and her growth as a creative. Some records lean into storytelling, giving listeners a real look into her perspective. At the same time, her background as a DJ shapes how she approaches every track. She thinks beyond the studio. She considers how a record will feel in a party, on a dance floor, or in a moment where people can truly connect to the sound.

Now back in the DMV full time, Briizy is focused on building within her community. She continues to DJ, release music, and collaborate with local artists. In addition, she recently began teaching an after-school program where she introduces students to the fundamentals of DJing. Through that work, she is not only sharing her skills, but also helping inspire the next generation of creatives.

As she continues to grow, Briizy remains focused on her craft. She is building connections, expanding her reach, and pushing her sound forward with intention.

This Women’s History Month, Briizy represents a new wave of creatives in the DMV. Ones who are not waiting for space, but creating it for themselves.
