Man Accused of Killing Ex-Girlfriend In Columbia May Have Fled To India

The man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend inside a Columbia, Maryland apartment on New Year’s Eve may now be overseas, according to police.
Arjun Sharma, 26, is charged with first- and second-degree murder in the death of Nikhita Godishala, 27, of Ellicott City. Howard County police say Sharma reported Godishala missing Friday the same day he allegedly left the United States on a flight to India. He told officers he last saw her at his apartment in the 10100 block of Twin Rivers Road. Detectives later discovered Godishala’s body Saturday while executing a search warrant at the apartment. Investigators believe Godishala was stabbed and killed around 7 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. An arrest warrant for Sharma was issued Sunday, and police say they are working with federal law enforcement to locate and apprehend him.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no motive has been identified.
