Man arrested after attempting to kidnap a child at a bus stop in Gaithersburg

Detectives in Montgomery County have arrested a 31-year-old man after he attempted to kidnap a kid in Gaithersburg.

Around 7:20 a.m., 31-year-old Jamaal Germany grabbed a child at a bus stop on Towne Crest Drive near Washington Grove Lane Monday morning (March 20th).

Germany grabbed the child and pulled them towards an apartment building nearby. Several students who were at the bus stop intervened and the victim was able to get away.

Students reported the incident to staff members at Redland Middle School who contacted the school’s Community Engagement Officer.

A resident in the neighborhood who is a parent of a high school student also stated that this is not the first time something like this happened. The parent mentioned that a week prior Germany was at the bus stop doing the same thing.

Germany was identified as the suspect and was arrested. He has been charged with attempted kidnapping and second-degree assault. Germany has been transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
