World’s Largest Black Music Fest “AFRO+” Hits DMV, Expecting Over 120K Festival Goers.

LANDOVER, MD — Afro Plus Fest returns for its second year this Labor Day weekend, running Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 6, 2026 at the Northwest Stadium Complex in Landover, Maryland. The all‑ages festival, which celebrates global Black music and culture, has grown from a single sold-out day at RFK Festival Grounds in 2025 into a three-day event in Prince George’s County, where demand has pushed remaining tickets into their final release.
Tems and Ayra Starr are among the superstars slated to headline along with Davido, Alkaline and Wizkid. The experience honors both the future and the legacy of Black music across Afrobeats, hip‑hop, soca, dancehall, R&B and amapiano. The wider lineup includes special guests Lil Baby, Latto, Chief Keef and Sexyy Red, Odeal, Adekunle Gold, Olamide, Sarkodie, Tiwa Savage, Ruger, Victony, Young Jonn and more across two stages.
Maryland Governor Wes Moore shared his support for the festival ahead of the weekend:
“Afro Plus Fest is a homecoming for African communities across our state and across the country to come together and celebrate the bonds that connect us. I’m proud both as a fan and as somebody who understands that this is a chance for everyone to celebrate how deep our culture runs through the music we all love. I have to give a special shout out to the ‘Made in DMV’ performers and hope everyone shows them some love this weekend.”
Beyond the Music
Along with the performances, the cultural campus transforms 35 acres of open-air stadium space into a massive hub featuring a carnival with rides and games, an interactive basketball court, over 100 brand activations, and 125 food vendors. There are also immersive art installations, fashion and beauty showcases, wellness spaces, and a marketplace spotlighting Black-owned brands and local DMV creators.
“We packed this weekend so full that the goal is for you not to be able to finish the festival in one day,” said Michael Awosanya, Founder and Executive Producer of Afro Plus Fest. “We wanted to create as much value as we possibly could for every ticket holder. You could come all three days and still miss something. We built it for the fans first.”

By the Numbers
The 2025 debut drew 20,000 fans and generated an estimated $10 million in local economic impact. This year, organizers project 120,000 fans across three days, an increase they expect to drive up to $60 million back into the local economy. On DC News Now’s Living Local After Dark, host and journalist Corinna Delgado described the festival as “like a micro economic stimulus package for Prince George’s.”
Ahead of opening day, Awosanya added:
“I just really hope we don’t take the weekend for granted. We’ve never seen anything like this in our lifetime, and I truly hope we realize how special this moment is and make the most of it.”
