Timothy Kashaun Bradshaw Robinson, 19, of Falls Church, and a 17-year-old youth from Washington, D.C. have both been arrested in connection with Nelson Alexander Sr’s death.

The incident occurred early on October 20, 2021, at a walk-up ATM outside the Wells Fargo branch on Annandale Road in Annandale.

Nelson Alexander Sr. was standing in front of the ATM when he was approached by a man wearing a mask and armed with a tiny pistol, according to police. On the security video, the man was seen threatening the victim before shooting him.

About an hour after the shooting, a bicycle noticed the victim on the ground and alerted authorities.

Alexander Sr. died a few days later as a result of his injuries. In the days following the incident, police released surveillance video and images.

The ATM surveillance video also showed a 2009 Nissan Murano in the seconds preceding the fatal shooting. The Murano had been taken overnight from the 5200 block of Dover Place in Alexandria, according to detectives.

Detectives requested security footage from the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority after discovering the stolen vehicle (WMATA).

A study of the camera film shows three people, including Bradshaw Robinson and the 17-year-old boy, boarding a WMATA bus near the Seven Corners Shopping Center in the 6200 block of Arlington Boulevard in Falls Church around 1:20 a.m. on Oct. 20. The three suspects then got off the bus in Alexandria, near where the Murano was taken.

Several public tips and additional video material led to the identification of the three people seen on the WMATA surveillance cameras. Detectives carried out additional search warrants, yielding digital and forensic evidence linking both Bradshaw Robinson and the 17-year-old boy to the murder.

At this moment, the third individual seen with the two suspects is not thought to be implicated in the murder.
