Omar “Aquan” Donaldson Is Turning Life Lessons Into Lifelines for the Next Generation
Omar “Aquan” Donaldson is transforming personal experience into purpose through mentorship, financial literacy, and community engagement. With strong ties to New York City and Baltimore, he is dedicated to guiding youth toward informed decisions and brighter futures.
Raised in Brooklyn, NY, Omar grew up in a stable environment while navigating exposure to street culture. Influenced by fast money at a young age, he faced legal challenges and left high school at 16 before earning his GED. These early experiences became a turning point, shaping his commitment to helping young people avoid similar pitfalls.
Today, Aquan educates and mentors youth on financial literacy, emphasizing the connection between mindset, decision-making, and mental well-being. His work highlights the importance of real-life guidance from individuals who understand the pressures young people face. Through his outreach, he equips them with practical tools often missing from traditional education.
His initiatives include youth mentorship and life-skills workshops, back-to-school drives, community clean-ups, and wellness events that promote both physical and mental health. Aquan has also supported the Queen of Harlem Coat Drive for more than a decade and sponsored youth participation in community basketball tournaments. To date, he has directly impacted more than 50 young people and led over 15 initiatives.

A serial entrepreneur with more than a decade of experience in brick-and-mortar businesses and real estate, Omar has created employment opportunities for youth, often providing their first jobs. He has also partnered with Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow to connect young people with meaningful career pathways.
Currently, he collaborates with Keeping Hopes Alive and is developing VYBER—Vision, Yield, Build, Empower, Reality—an initiative that empowers the next generation through education and mentorship. His most impactful work centers on financial literacy, teaching youth essential skills such as credit management, entrepreneurship, taxes, and business fundamentals.
“I’ve made mistakes, and I still make mistakes—that’s why I talk to the youth,” Aquan says. “Guidance and the right information at the right time can change everything. Mentorship is for all ages, including mine.”
As he looks ahead, Aquan remains committed to expanding financial literacy programs and teaching entrepreneurship to help young people build stable, successful futures. Through transparency, resilience, and purpose, he continues to turn life lessons into lifelines for the next generation.
