Maryland women’s basketball coach Brenda Frese extended through the 2028-29 season
Maryland’s women’s basketball coach Brenda Frese’s contract has been extended until the 2028-29 season. The school made the announcement on Tuesday. Maryland has reached three Final Fours under Frese, including a national championship in 2006. For the 10th time under Frese, the Terrapins reached the Sweet 16 this season. In 18 of her 20 seasons as coach, Maryland has advanced to the NCAA Tournament. In 2021, Frese was selected AP Coach of the Year.
Maryland entered the 2022 NCAAW tournament as the number four seed. They advanced to the Sweet 16 but lost to the number one seed Stanford 72-66. In 23 years as a head coach, Frese has a 592-170 record, including a 535-140 mark at Maryland.
