If you are an active listener in the DMV Music Scene, you know we have a lot of creative talents from our area. Today I introduce you to a rising artist by the name of Yung Trav, hailing from Southeast Washington, D.C. Yung Trav is a born and raised Washingtonian who began rapping at a younger age. In 2012, Trav dropped out of school in 9th Grade and started to pursue music full-time. The moment he started to take his craft seriously after receiving show bookings and growing a solid fan base. At the age of 18, Yung Trav founded his own record label “D2R Records, LLC“. Yung Trav has been building his catalog sense and staying consistent with his projects and music videos.

“It’s been a long journey but my future still holds a lot of Weight I just have to keep pushing been through a lot of ups & downs in life itself so I plan on making it in music and branch out and do other things like businesses ”  – Yung Trav

Q: Can you tell us about your latest project “It’ll All Be Better Soon” and talk about the inspiration and meaning behind it?

Yung Trav: The meaning behind this tape is based on my journey so far in life and music it’s been a roller coaster from having a troubled past and dealing with fake friendships, going broke, family problems, deaths, and being a product of my environment and to be 25 and still here and watching the next generation carry the torch and I’ve got older so I’m focusing on getting rich it’s a note to myself saying “It’ll All Be Better Soon”

Q: Think about someone or something that may have inspired you to make music. Who was or what was it?

Yung Trav: What inspired me was my upbringing mostly the struggle my past trials and tribulations the I’ve surpassed but still figuring things out so I can build my future to how I want it to be for me that’s what makes my music so real

Q: What accomplishments do you see yourself achieving in the next 5 to 10 years?

Yung Trav: wealthy and having multiple investments if I play cards right I’ll be good

Q: How would you describe the music that you typically create?

Yung Trav:  Vulgar, Intense, Real, Trap, Vibey, Soulful, Party, Happy, Sad, Motivational, and Inspiring

Q: What is your creative process like?

Yung Trav: Sometimes I drink but I need my smokes and sum food and juice and water then I’ll listen to the beat if the beat speak to me spiritually that’s when I dive in and go crazy if it doesn’t on to the next beat

Q: Take us on a journey back to the first song you have ever written. How was that experience?

Yung Trav: Full of Adrenaline and confidence and passion lol I was so serious about doing this music so my 1st song was trash but I felt like it was it at the time especially how I was coming I was aggressive had a lot to talk about I was going through so much at 16

Q: What is your favorite song from “It’ll All Be Better Soon.”?

Yung Trav: Idk really it’s hard to say I like “LITT” & “MORE DEN DAT” & “ROCKSTAR LIFESTYLE” & “DEVIN BOOKER” & “THOUGHT PATTERNS”  & “IN THE NAME OF LOK” mostly all of them lol

Q: What challenges have you encountered since being a music artist and how have you overcome them?

Yung Trav: Saving money mostly and don’t forget to invest I use to lack in that and forget that you can’t expect your product to move if you don’t market it so I’ve learned I need to invest more it’ll save all my problems

Q: Which qualities do you think to make a great musician?

Yung Trav: Image, Talent, Money, Work Ethic & You Good To Go

Q: Describe your favorite and least favorite part about being a musician.

Yung Trav: My favorite part about is the money of course and the fans you gain from it you can open doors you thought was closed for you but the least I hate is that people only care about who you tapped in with and how cool u look or how much money you have they don’t care about talent any more it’s sad for its talented people out here with no money or images its a lot of diamonds in the dirt

Q: What is the best advice you’ve been given? What’s next for you?

Yung Trav: Best advice was that  failure is part of your success story because you can miss 100 shots in a game and nobody would care bout it but as soon as you make one shot you’ll hear and see about it everywhere so u can fail countless times but all it takes is for that one moment you’ve been waiting for and your life change & what’s next for me is elevation and more money to go further with everything I got going on

Be sure to listen to Yung Trav’s new project “It’ll All Be Better Soon” now streaming on all music platforms.
