National Harbor Set to Become Home of A New Sphere Entertainment Venue

Sphere Entertainment Co., in partnership with the State of Maryland, Prince George’s County, and Peterson Companies, has announced plans to bring a new Sphere venue to National Harbor, marking a major milestone in the region’s entertainment and economic development landscape.
The proposed project would become the second Sphere venue in the United States and the first smaller-scale model, designed to seat approximately 6,000 guests. While more intimate than the Las Vegas Sphere, the National Harbor location would still feature the company’s signature immersive technology, including advanced visuals, spatial audio, and multi-sensory experiences that have redefined live entertainment.
The venue is expected to host concerts, major events, and original Sphere Experiences, positioning National Harbor as a premier destination for entertainment just minutes from Washington, D.C. Developers say the project would transform the waterfront into a nationally recognized cultural hub while complementing existing retail, dining, and tourism attractions.
Benefits From Sphere Venue
The development is backed by a mix of public and private investment, including roughly $200 million in incentives. Economic projections estimate the project would create around 2,500 construction jobs, 4,750 permanent jobs, and generate more than $1 billion annually in economic impact for the region.
If finalized, the Sphere would become one of the most recognizable landmarks in the DMV, drawing visitors from across the country and strengthening Prince George’s County’s position as a center for innovation, tourism, and large-scale events. The project remains subject to final agreements and government approvals, but momentum continues to build for what could be a transformative addition to the region.
