Interview: Luck Ushers in a New Era with It Wasn’t Luck

Recently, multidimensional artist Luck unveiled a new chapter of her career with the release of her debut album, It Wasn’t Luck – The LP. The celebration unfolded at NeueHouse Hollywood’s Studio A, where the Virginia-raised, LA-based artist gathered fans, friends, and collaborators for an evening that embodied the album’s themes of love, spirituality, and healing.
Hosted by music executive Walter J. Tucker, the release party delivered an immersive experience with a full-album playback, curated visuals, and an electrifying live performance by Luck herself. With her soaring vocals and magnetic stage presence, she captivated the audience and set the tone for a night filled with energy and connection.
A Star-Studded Celebration
The evening wasn’t just about Luck—it was a collaborative celebration. Special guests and featured collaborators joined her on stage, including surprise performances from RMR, Ant Clemons, Johan Lenox, and Jordan Hawkins. Each brought their unique artistry to the forefront, highlighting the dynamic collaborations that make It Wasn’t Luck – The LP such a rich body of work.
In a heartfelt finale, Luck transformed the stage into a space of unity by inviting everyone in attendance to join her under the spotlight. The moment became a communal celebration of love, healing, and togetherness—values deeply woven into the DNA of her debut project.
The Journey from the east coast to Los Angeles
Luck’s roots trace back to Virginia and Connecticut, but her journey has been shaped by living in a variety of places. This multicultural experience informs both her artistry and her worldview.
“Overall my transition to Los Angeles has been smooth because I have lived in a wide variety of places and learned so many different life skills that help me with not only making music but growing overall as a person,” she shared. “Being able to be multicultural and faceted is the key to life.”
Crafting It Wasn’t Luck
When asked about her collaborations, Luck emphasized that each feature holds a special place in her heart:
“I made an incredible body of work with a multitude of great artists. Each song means so much to me so all of them are very perfect to my soul.”
The process of making the LP also became a transformative personal journey. “I grew in almost every aspect of myself throughout the curation of the project,” she. “From learning and reflecting on past experiences to conjuring music that is not only transparent about my life but also improving on the ability to make it relatable to the average music consumer.”
Love and Mental Prosperity
Themes of love and mental prosperity are central to the album. For Luck, they’re inseparable from the human experience:
“Love is the conversation of the project, from the ups and downs of it to the aspect of heartbreak and joy. Love hurts but also heals. Without it we are not human.”
What’s Next for Luck
While the debut marks the end of one chapter, Luck is already embracing the beginning of the next. “For now I’ll enjoy pushing my new EP and enjoying my new marriage,” she said. “It’s the end of one chapter but also the beginning which I’m excited for.”
With It Wasn’t Luck – The LP now available worldwide, Luck continues to carve her own lane as one of the DMV’s most promising exports, offering a debut that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
