Officers from Anne Arundel County rescue four people, including two small children, from a submerged car

Over the weekend, Anne Arundel County police officers performed a miraculous rescue, pulling four individuals – including two little children – from their sinking vehicle.

According to police, at around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, an officer on patrol at Severn-Danza Park heard an accident in his local vicinity.

The officer and his supervisor located a vehicle that had lost control on Donaldson Avenue and had swerved off the road into trees and a fence before being half-submerged in a park drainage pond.

The truck began to fill with water as four individuals were stuck inside. The officers acted quickly to rescue the four passengers, who included a 9-month-old and a 3-year-old toddler.

Officers had to shatter the vehicle’s passenger windows to gain entry. They first brought the children to safety before returning to rescue the elders. According to the police, everyone involved was unharmed except for being cold and wet.

The unlicensed driver, 27-year-old Oswaldo Ramirez-Lopez, was apprehended owing to outstanding warrants.
