Man found guilty of fatal stabbing outside of Popeyes in 2019
The man charged with the stabbing death of a customer at a Popeyes restaurant in Oxon Hill, Maryland, in 2019 was found guilty of second-degree murder on Friday.
Ricoh McClain, 32, stabbed Kevin Davis, 27, on November 4, 2019, at the Popeyes on Livingston Road in Oxon Hill Plaza, according to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.
According to police, the argument began when Davis cut in line to enter the fast-food restaurant to get the chain’s popular chicken sandwich, which had recently been re-released. The altercation resulted in a brief debate, which culminated with McClain stabbing Davis and departing the scene. Davis died at a hospital about an hour later.
McClain was apprehended after a 10-day manhunt. A grand jury indicted him a month later on counts of common-law murder and carrying a dangerous weapon with the intent to kill.
McClain’s sentencing date is set for July 25.
